Does suppliers’ slack influence the relationship between buyers’ environmental orientation and green innovation?

Although researchers have analysed how environmental strategy affects firm competitiveness, they often overlooked the potential influence at supply chain level. Building on resource-based view and behavioural theory of firm, this study examines effect buyers’ orientation their green innovation influencing role suppliers’ critical slack resources (i.e., inventory slack, capacity technology slack). A panel data regression method is used to analyse 689 buyer–supplier dyads from Chinese listed manufacturing firms over period 2008–2019. Our findings suggest that positively related innovation. Suppliers’ moderate relationship, whereas does not. This contributes growing literature management management, has significant implications for managers.
